This report represents the findings of a study which "assessed the viability of the Water Quality Corridor Management (WQCM) model in reviewing the status of stream systems, and ultimately, established an accurate mechanism for evaluating the stream corridor and surface water quality draining into Lewisville Lake" (p. 1).
Aquatic Ecological Classification and Evaluation of Streams and Stream Reaches in the Upper Roanoke River Basin, Virginia
The purpose of this study is to "establish a data base and methodology for classifying...the streams of the Roanoke Basin into a hierarchy of ecological systems" and to "establish evaluative criteria and methodology for classifying and ranking streams within the ecological systems relative to their state of environmental quality" (p. An Evaluation of the Environmental Impact of Recreation Facilities Expansion at Lake Ray Roberts State Park, Isle du Bois and Johnson Branch Units
This report "presents the results and recommendations of a two month investigation conducted at Lake Ray Roberts State Park," as "part of the ongoing effort of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to manage and conserve the natural resources of the state and provide...enjoyable recreation areas to the citizens of Texas." The study proposes the expansion of the Isle du Bois and Johnson Branch Units of the Lake Ray Roberts State Park to accommodate the surrounding counties' population growth (p. 6).
Historic Archaeology of the Johnson and Jones Farmsteads in the Ray Roberts Lake Area: 1850-1950
This study represents the findings of research done on the Jones and Johnson farms, "situated in Johnson Branch Park in the north-central portion of the Ray Roberts Lake area." The purpose of the study was to offset future disturbances and damages to these farmsteads, and it includes "archival investigations, architectural documentation, oral-history interviews of long-time area residents and family members, farm equipment and artifact analyses, archaeological excavations, stabilization measures, and the development of interpretative exhibits for area schools, museums, and the general public" (p. i).
A Water Quality and Ecological Survey of the Trinity River, Volume 2
This volume of the report represents the technical findings of a study conducted on the ecological makeup of the Trinity River. The data presented includes: ambient toxicity test results and survival rates, United States Geological Survey (USGS) flow data, water quality data, as well as sediment quality data.
Remote Sensing and GIS for Nonpoint Source Pollution Analysis in the City of Dallas' Western Watersheds
This report describes the findings of a study conducted on the watersheds of "Lake Lewisville, Lake Ray Roberts, Lake Grapevine and the Elm Fork of the Trinity River between Lake Lewisville and Frazier Dam," which are all part of the upper Trinity drainage basin (p. 31). The study examines the potential benefit of "remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) for watershed management" in and around Dallas, Texas (p. i).

This report describes the findings of a study conducted on the Eastern Watersheds of Lake Lavon, Lake Ray Hubbard, Lake Tawakoni, Lake Palestine and Lake Fork, which are located within the Blackland Prairie, Post Oak Savannah and Pineywoods provinces. These watersheds are among nine that provide drinking water to Dallas, Texas. The study examines the potential benefit of "remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) for watershed management" in these five watersheds (p. iii).
Toxicological Case Study of Dallas' Central Wastewater Treatment Plant Effluent and Ambient Trinity River Samples: 1989, 1990, 1991
"This study was implemented voluntarily by personnel at Dallas Water Utilities in response to concerns that the Dallas Central Wastewater Treatment Plant was adversely affecting downstream water quality." The treatment plant was studied to determine whether it was "discharging toxic materials in toxic amounts to the Trinity River" (p. 1).
Archaeological Testing of the Lewisville Lake Shoreline, Denton County, Texas
This report describes the results of test excavations at 23 prehistoric and 16 historic sites on the periphery of Lewisville Lake, Denton County, Texas. The purpose of this report is to summarize the character and significance of the archaeological sites that were test excavated and recommendations for mitigation at those sites determined eligible for the National Register.
Atrazine Monitoring and Modeling in the Lake Lavon Watershed
This report describes a study to identify the distribution and extent of areas potentially at risk for atrazine (a broad leaf weedkiller) runoff in the Lake Lavon watershed, which is a major water supply for the Dallas area. The report presents the results of the study and makes recommendations for how information can be used in a cost-effective watershed atrazine reduction strategy.
Archaeological Investigations at Four Sites Along Potapo Creek, McGee Creek Reservoir, Atoka County, Oklahoma
This volume contains the results of excavations and analyses of Prehistoric archaeological data from four sites located along Potapo Creek in the northwestern part of the McGee Creek project area in southeastern Oklahoma. Some excavations yielded archaeological records of Early Caddoan occupation. Other excavations in the project yielded few artifacts, but important geological and environmental information.

Quantitative Analysis of Water and Biological Samples for Determination of Haleogenated Organics in the Upper Trinity River, Texas : Final Technical Report
This study had three objectives: 1) to develop a method for the quantitative determination of total organic bound chlorine in water and biological samples using Source-Excited X-Ray Fluorescence, 2) to provide training in the use of analytical techniques for students from different disciplines, and 3) to use an interdisciplinary approach involving students of biology, chemistry, and physics to investigate a complex environmental problem. Only the first objective is treated in detail in this volume.
Lavon, Texas: Crossroads of Opportunity
This report examines the City of Lavon, Texas and its economic opportunities. It gives an overview of the City of Lavon and discusses the development of other small cities in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area. It reports on incentives for Lavon, discusses the organization of an Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and its tasks, offers an in-depth profile of the community in Lavon, and shows economic development strategies with conclusions about their findings.
North Texas State Fair & Rodeo: The Economic Impacts of Existing Activities and Preliminary Feasibility Assessment for New Fairgrounds and Expo Center
This report discusses the economic impacts of existing activities and gives a preliminary feasibility assessment for new fairgrounds and expo center. The economic and fiscal impacts generated by fairs, rodeos, horse shows, and cattle shows nationwide are significant. Impacts estimated in the millions of dollars are not uncommon for regional and state events. It is against this backdrop that the University of North Texas Center for Economic Development and Research has been asked to estimate the economic and fiscal impacts of the North Texas State Fair & Rodeo, as well as examine the potential market for and economic and fiscal impacts of building a new exposition center in Denton County. Later in this report, we will also examine the experiences of ten exposition centers across Texas and the U.S. that illustrate the types of events, and the associated costs, that would likely attend construction and operation of such a center in Denton County.

Rediscovery of the Elements: The Noble Gases--Rayleigh and Ramsay
Article describing the discovery of argon, helium, and other inert gases by Lord Rayleigh, Sir William Ramsay, and other collaborators. Ramsay also characterized the noble gases and classified them within the structure of the Periodic Table of Elements.
