Absorption and emission modulation in a MoS2–GaN (0001) heterostructure by interface phonon–exciton coupling

Description: Article reporting the change in the transient absorption characteristics of monolayer MoS2 and the modified PL emission characteristics in a monolayer MoS2–GaN (0001) heterostructure due to the coupling of carriers with the phonon modes and the energy exchange at the interface. The results demonstrate the relevance of interface coupling between the semiconductors for the development of optical and electronic applications.

Artificially Structured Boundary for a high purity ion trap or ion source

Description: This article proposes a plasma enclosed by an Artificially Structured Boundary (ASB) as an alternative to existing ion source assemblies. In accelerator applications, many ion sources can have a limited lifetime or frequent service intervals due to sputtering and eventual degradation of the ion source assembly. Ions are accelerated towards the exit canal of positive ion sources, whereas, due to the biasing scheme, electrons or negative ions are accelerated towards the back of the ion source ass… more
