Accessing the Inaccessible: Capturing and Re-Purposing Metadata Prior to Digitization to Ensure Adequate Description and Access

Description: Presented at the 2018 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries. This presentation provides a detailed look at how University of North Texas Libraries' Special Collections embarked upon a large-scale digitization project involving a portion of the highly requested A/V materials from the NBC-5/KXAS Television News collection, using a third-party vendor. This project included the use of snapshots to help repurpose metadata, then linked data tools in Excel and WikiMedia to create access to tape conten… more

ARKENSTONE – I. A novel method for robustly capturing high specific energy outflows in cosmological simulations

Description: Article describes how ARKENSTONE is a new model for multiphase, stellar feedback-driven galactic winds designed for inclusion in coarse resolution cosmological simulations. In this first paper of a series, the authors describe the features that allow ARKENSTONE to properly treat high specific energy wind components and demonstrate them using idealized non-cosmological simulations of a galaxy with a realistic circumgalactic medium (CGM) using the AREPO code.

Atomic layer deposition of h-BN(0001) multilayers on Ni(111) and chemical vapor deposition of graphene on h-BN(0001)/Ni(111)

Description: Article studying atomic layer deposition. In situ direct, epitaxial growth of multilayers of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and graphene without physical transfer is of significant interest for the scalable production of graphene/h-BN heterostructures for device applications. Deposition on magnetic substrates is of particular interest for spin tunneling applications. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and low energy electron diffraction demonstrate epitaxial atomic-layer deposition (ALD) of multi… more

Bayesian Time-Series Models in Single Case Experimental Designs: A Tutorial for Trauma Researchers

Description: Article discusses the utility of SCED data for trauma research, provides recommendations for addressing challenges specific to SCED approaches, and introduces a tutorial for two Bayesian models—the Bayesian interrupted time-series (BITS) model and the Bayesian unknown change-point (BUCP) model—that can be used to analyze the typically small sample, autocorrelated, SCED data.
