Description: This paper describes the efforts and results of a plan for actively recruiting students to undergraduate computer science and engineering programs at the University of North Texas (UNT). Such recruitment of students is critical to the country's efforts to increase the number of engineering professionals, and is a priority for the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department at UNT.

Characterizing Humour: An Exploration of Features in Humorous Texts

Description: This paper investigates the problem of automatic humor recognition, and provides an in-depth analysis of two of the most frequently observed features of humorous text: human-centeredness and negative polarity. Through experiments performed on two collections of humorous texts, the authors show that these properties of verbal humor are consisted across different data sets.

Classifying Abdominal Fat Distribution Patterns by Using Body Measurement Data

Description: This article aims to explore new categorization that characterizes the distribution clusters of visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissues (VAT and SAT) measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to analyze the relationship between the VAT-SAT distribution patterns and the novel body shape descriptors (BSDs), and to develop a classifier to predict the fat distribution clusters using the BSDs.
