Dual activity of anthocyanidin reductase supports the dominant plant proanthocyanidin extension unit pathway

Description: This article presents research on genetic and biochemical analyses that shows ANR has dual activity and is involved not only in the production of (−)-epicatechin starter units but also in the formation of 2,3-cis-leucocyanidin to serve as (−)-epicatechin extension units. The results find that differences in the product specificities of ANRs account for the presence/absence of PA polymerization and the compositions of PAs across plant species

Carry On: One Digitization Lab's Journey Through Temporary Displacement

Description: Presentation on the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) upgrades at the University of North Texas Library which required the displacement of the Digital Projects Lab staff and students from their lab for an estimated six weeks. With little access to digitization equipment, the lab planned to continue running during that period. By presenting the preparation and planning for the move, the logistics of the transition, and the results from the experience, the authors hope to share their strategies for digitization lab mobility and continued, off-site productivity. It was presented at the Texas Conference on Digital Libraries held virtually on May 24-26, 2021.

Preparing Linguists’ Field Recordings and Datasets for Ingest into a Digital Library System: Lessons from Creating the Lamkang Language Resource at the University of North Texas Digital Library

Description: Presentation on the long term preservation of and universal access to language data which may tap into typologically rare phenomena and which represents the intangible and irreplaceable heritage of indigenous communities. This language data can be in the form of audio, video, picture, and various digital formats. In order to prepare the source files of a documentation project for ingest to a digital library, linguists and digital librarians must develop a common procedure that takes into consideration (1) provenance and varying formats of materials and (2) necessary metadata specific to linguistic datasets.

Climate Metrics for C1–C4 Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)

Description: This article looks at hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) which are potent greenhouse gases that are potential substitutes for ozone depleting substances. The Kigali amendment lists 17 HFCs that are currently in commercial use to be regulated under the Montreal Protocol. Future commercial applications may explore the use of other HFCs, most of which currently lack an evaluation of their climate metrics. In this work, atmospheric lifetimes, radiative efficiencies (REs), global warming potentials (GWPs), and global temperature change potentials (GTPs) for all saturated HFCs with fewer than 5 carbon atoms are estimated to help guide future usage and policy decisions.
