Morphological and Hematological Responses to Hypoxia During Development in the Japanese quail, Coturnix coturnix

Description: Hypoxic responses in quail development differ depending upon stage, duration and level of oxygen partial pressure of embryo. Incubation was switched to/from 110mmHg partial pressure (hypoxia), to/from 150mmHg (normoxia) during different stages in development, and control was incubated in normoxia throughout. A Proposed Molecular Mechanism for the Activation of a Calcium/Phospholipid-Dependent Protein Kinase in P1798 Lymphosarcoma

Description: Calcium/phospholipid-dependent protein kinase (PKC) was purified from P1798 lymphosarcoma. It was demonstrated that uncomplexed calcium and uncomplexed phosphatidylserine are the activators, that the activation of PKC requires that calcium bind first, that the activation of PKC requires that calcium bind first, that high calcium concentrations inhibit PKC activation, and that calcium inhibition can be overcome by phosphatidylserine.

Control, Commitment, and Challenge: Relationships to Stress, Illness, and Gender

Description: Male and female college students were administered scales assessing their daily hassles, negative life events, control, commitment, challenge, psychological symptomatology, psychological distress, and physical symptomatology. Stepwise multiple regression analyses showed that control, commitment, and challenge act in an additive (rather than multiplicative) manner in relation to psychological and physical outcome measures.
