Description: The subject of this study is the comparison of the annual instructional pupil-subject cost in five class a high schools and a determination of the factors in each schools which affects its instructional cost, and finally, an attempt to set up criterion for determining the annual pupil-subject instructional cost in a high school in a city of from 5,000 to 25,000 population.

A Comparison of Miller Analogies Test Scores with Undergraduate and Graduate Grade-Point Averages of Graduate Students

Description: The main purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between the Miller Analogies Test scores of graduate school students and their undergraduate grade-point averages, as well as to find the relationship between Miller Analogies Test scores and the grade-point averages in graduate school of these students. A secondary purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between each of the following variables: sex, age, curriculum and the performance levels of the subjects.

Description: The purpose of this study is: 1) To point out some similarities and differences of the two school systems in the twin cities. 2)To determine the comparative readiness of the students finalizing the seventh grade in Texas and those finishing eighth grade in Arkansas to pursue high school work. 3) To make a comparative study of the progress made during the Freshman year in high school by these same students. 4) To determine the difference in achievement of students in the two school systems by making a study of the graduating seniors of the session 1936-1937.

The Effect of Chlorpromazine on Avoidance Learning in Rats

Description: In this experiment it was hypothesized the (a) those organisms trained under the influence of chlorpromazine will perform a learned task (when tested) with more incorrect responses than a comparable group trained under "normal" conditions; (b) those organisms tested under the influence of chlorpromazine will perform a previously learned task with more incorrect responses than a comparable group of organisms tested under "normal" conditions.

The Effect of Induced Motivation on the I.Q. Scores of Negro Children

Description: The purpose of the present study was to further investigate the effects of motivation on the intellectual attainment of Negro children. In view of previous research and realizing the importance of related study on inventive and achievement, the following hypothesis was proposed: Inducement of motivation between pre-and post-administrations of Form A of the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test would result in significantly greater magnitude of change in scores for the experimental group of Negro children than for the control group.

The Effect of the Specific Teaching of Mathematical Concepts in Second Year Algebra

Description: The purpose of this study was to correlate the Vegetation of the Woodbine Sands with the edaphic factors. In the laboratory an analysis of the edephic factors was made of the twenty-two soil types collected from the three formations. The results of these and other analysis are shown in tables and graphs. The results indicate that the vegetational cover of an area that is uniform in its origin and in its resident soil factors is determined by the edaphic factors present.
