Description: The purpose of this study is to compare the personality traits of twins with the personality traits of mutual friends, as measured by a personality rating scale. In this study an attempt will be made to answer two questions. First, how do twins compare with mutual friends on personality traits? Second, are certain traits more predominant among twins than among mutual friends?

The Conflict between Individualism and Socialism in the Life and Novels of Jack London

Description: The fact that Jack London's novels seem to fall into two classes--those which he wrote for money and those which he wrote to deliver a social message--has led to this study of his life and novels. It is the aim of this thesis to show that his life was one of conflict between individualism and socialism and that this conflict is reflected to a varying degree in his novels.

In doing this we may better determine whether our present theory of economic law is an element of scientific data or whether it merely leads to confusion and inconsistency. The purpose of this thesis is to see from where our ideas came, in the belief that confusion in a society is the result of the failure of ideas to correspond with reality.

The Diagnostic Possibilities of the California Test of Mental Maturity as Found in a Study of Academically Successful and Unsuccessful Students of Cleburne High School

Description: This problem is two-fold: first, to determine the relationships between the traditional school marks and the test scores made by the Cleburne High School students on the California Test of Mental Maturity as a means of estimating the academic achievement students probably will attain in particular school subjects; second, to determine whether or not such relationships are of sufficient significance that their use will reduce student failures in Cleburne High School.

Distinctive Features of the Military Preparatory School

Description: The purposes of this study are: (1) to analyze the military system of education and discipline developed and employed by the preparatory institutions of the United States which combine military training with academic training; (2) to show that the military system of education compares favorably with that offered in secondary schools; and (3) that certain distinctive features are present in the military system of education and that these features are worthy of careful consideration by parent and student.
