Analysis of the Interrelationship of Intelligence, Achievement, and Socio-Economic Status in a Selected Population of High-School Seniors

Description: The problem of this study was to determine the interrelationship of intelligence, socio-economic status, and ten subtest measures of achievement in a selected population of high-school seniors. In addition to the general problem, the specific problems were as follows: 1. To determine the relative independence of dependence of each of the variables in relation to their influence on each of the other variables. 2. To determine the degree of predictive validity with which behavioral regression equations can be used in terms of intelligence, achievement, and socio-economic status.

Construction and testing of a charging system and a corona column for an electrostatic accelerator

Description: The purpose of the project described in this paper has been to complete construction and to determine the operating characteristics of a charging system and a corona-type controlled leakage system for the compact Van de Graaf generator now under construction at North Texas State University. Calibration data of the generating voltmeter to be used for determining the potential developed by the generator are also included in the paper.

A guidance program for North Texas State University undergraduate students preparing for a career in medical illustration

Description: There are seven schools in the United States and Canada that offer a training program for students qualified in art and the biological sciences to meet the visual communication requirements in medical education and research. A survey of each of these schools in relation to the medical illustration curriculum of North Texas State University will give a broader picture of the educational requirements, nature of work, qualifications of the candidate, and the outlines of the curricula in this field. From this survey a guidance program will be determined to prepare toe undergraduate student for admission to medical school. This investigation of each training program will provide a better understanding of the variances of the medical schools which have departments of art as applied to medicine.

Maladjustment and the Distortion of Self-Perception

Description: Contemporary psychology has shown an increasing interest in the self-concept of the individual. This interest has grown in large measure from studies of perception. Many theorists have felt that perception in general and self-perception in particular is a function of the needs of the organism, as well as a function of the external stimuli. It is the purpose of this study to investigate the relationships between distortions in self-perception and total level of adjustment in a population of college students.

The Predictive Value of an English Achievement Test for Grades in Modern Foreign Languages

This study contained the following subdivisions: (1) a review of current college faculty development practices, (2) a review of current executive development practices within industry, (3) an explanation of the philosophy and technique of self-appraisal in professional development, (4) an application of the technique in six institutions of higher education, and (5) an analysis of results obtained from these institutions along with some suggestions for further research.
