A Comparison of Certain Personality Characteristics of Selected Secondary Students in Special English Classes Who Score High on a Standardized Achievement Test with Those Who Score Low

Description: This study was undertaken to determine what differences are found among personality characteristics of superior students, in special English classes, who score high on a standardized achievement test and superior students in the same classes who score low on this test. A second dimension of the study was to determine whether the same personality characteristics are evident among superior students in these classes at the eighth, tenth and twelfth grade levels.

Description: The basic purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship of secondary school student teachers' manifest psychological needs and the accuracy of interpersonal perception and the self-concepts of students. In seeking a solution to the problem, the following subproblems were investigated: 1. The relationship of student teacher manifest psychological needs and the accuracy with which the student teacher perceived the attitudes of his students. 2. The relationship of the accuracy with which the student teacher perceived the attitudes of his students and the favorability of the students' attitudes toward the student teacher.

Relationships Between Self-Actualization and Sociometric Status for Adolescents

Description: It was the purpose of this present investigation to display the tentative relationships between self-actualization and sociometric status of adolescent school students. In light of the theoretical and related literature presented, the following hypotheses were posited: 1) students who are high sociometrically will evidence higher personal orientation inventory (POI) means than the middle or low groups on more positive POI scales and 2) students who are low or middle sociometrically will evidence higher POI means than the high group on the major negative POI scales.

Student Teacher Expectations of the Leadership Role of the Principal

Description: The purposes of this study were to determine student teacher expectations of the behavior of the principal in two dimensions of leadership as measured by the Ohio State Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ) and the extent to which these expectations were related to sex, race, level of preparation, and the eight personality traits measured by the Gordon Personal Profile (GPP) and the Gordon Personal Inventory (GPI).

The Teaching Practices of Science Teachers in Selected Texas High Schools

Description: The problem of this study was to determine the emphasis placed on various science teaching practices by a random sample of high school biology, chemistry, and physics teachers in selected Texas high schools. The subproblem was to compare the emphasis placed on the practices as reported by the high school teachers with the emphasis as recommended by national science education specialists, teachers of biology, chemistry, and physics in selected Texas colleges and universities, and teachers of professional education courses in selected Texas colleges and universities.
