Evening Slippers

Description: Heeled evening slippers or pumps of peach satin. Designed with pointed toe, the plain uppers have a simple seam/stitch along squared edge of vamp which runs horizontally to meet the sole near heel. This seam gives a "two-tone" effect to the satin as the light hits it. The 2 1/4" high modified French heel is covered with the same satin. Designer's label inside right shoe: "Paul's / Aristocrats / Hand Made / Turn-Sole" Stamped inside right shoe: "Narrow Heel Model / Hand / Made / Turns / Sta-up-arch / No / T" Written inside: "055 18304 / 0102"

Evening Slippers

Description: Evening slippers or pumps of gold kid leather with inset panels of metallic gold brocade. Designed with gently pointed toe, the pumps have a low-cut plain gold kid leather vamp with curved upper edge and thin band of inset brocade which sweeps to side and widens out into large panels. Side panels, ankle strap, and back upper heel all of plain gold kid leather. Ankle straps fasten at side with single amber-colored rhinestone stud buttons. The 2" high modified French heel is covered in plain gold kid leather. Retailer's stamp inside both shoes: "Lord & Taylor / New York" Embossed on sole of each shoe: "5158 / 28 / Made / In / Austria / 6 / AA" Stamped inside shoes: "6AA"

Evening Suit

Description: Evening suit of black velvet. The ensemble consists of a jacket of black velvet with machine embroidered vine and floral motifs in black threads and black beads. The coat has a notched collar, long sleeves with wide cuffs and two non-functional buttons on each sleeve, and two non-functional pockets at front. Center-front opening with two circular black satin-covered buttons. The lapels, cuffs, and pocket flaps are all of black satin. The knee-length skirt of of the same fabric, with satin waistband. Short zipper closure at side with two hook-and-eyes in waistband. Designer's label inside jacket at collar: "Givenchy", with model number written on cloth tape sewn underneath label: "74075"

Description: Evening suit of amethyst acetate with gold braid, embroidery and beads. a) Jacket in a short fitted style with long sleeves. Collarless with gold lace trim around neckline, center front and hem. Hidden center front closure of 4 large, black fabric-covered snaps supplemented with 2 hook & eyes. Fabric is woven with gold threads in a scalloped design embellished on front panels with gold beads and large gold teardrops. Gold lace trim also around armholes. Lined in amethyst satin acetate; padded shoulders. Victor Costa Sample label pinned to center back neckline with large Saks Fifth Avenue paper tag. b) Skirt of amethyst velvet in straight style. Knee length with 1" waistband. Center back opening with zipper and hook & bar on waistband. Lined in amethyst satin acetate.

Description: Folding fan with wooden sticks and guards, and paper leaf. The guards have applied celluloid(?) panels, the lower sections plain and the upper decorated with pastel "scales" in blue and yellow. Set with colored stones in square recesses. The paper leaf is painted on one side with a stylized design of clusters of roses in reds, pinks, and yellow/orange on a pink/mauve ground with blue shapes. "U"-shaped bail ring at bottom.

Chased metal bail ring at pivot with mother-of-pearl beads. Off-white silk tassel tied to bail. Inscribed on silk leaf along one guard: "Hood W. [illeg.] / June 5th /73"; other inscriptions on other guard, too fragile to examine.

The white sheer organdy leaf is hand-painted with central vignette of a garden scene of a couple greeting a woman seated on a bench. The leaf with added hand-panted border of a garland of flowers. Reverse is unadorned. No visible labels, marks or signatures. Fan has been in-expertly mended at some point previous to entering collection.

One side printed with a scene of a long-tailed bird (Phoenix?) sitting amid flowering branches with gold background. Reverse is printed with a scene of two birds flying over flowering branches. Marked in metal of handle: "Midget Fan / No. 104" and "Made in Hong Kong".

[Fashion Design]

Description: Original fashion design by Lilli Wolff. Possibly for a costume, of a female figure with gold-accented dress and flowing pink belt/sash represented on sketch by an applied cut-out piece of paper. Drawing is overlaid with black mesh, and mounted on larger board. Believed to have been done between 1945 and 1960.
