Picture Hat
Picture hat of straw. The domed crown is of natural-colored straw, ringed at the base with a line of artificial daisies with white petals and yellow centers, affixed to a band of off-white grosgrain ribbon. The broad oval straw brim is set off-center, and edged underneath with a double line of daisies around most of the brim, and a single line of daisies at back. The crown is edged inside with an inner hatband of white grosgrain ribbon. Label sewn to inner hatband: "Henrys / Dallas". Henrys has been identified alternately as maker or retailer.
Cloche
Cloche hat of medium brown coiled and plaited fibers. The high crown is crafted of spiraling band of plaited and coiled brown yarn(?)and incorporates looped sections, with iridescent flat ribbon wrapped around elements of the band. There is a horizontal "tuck" at back of hat, and a slight "visor" effect at front. The hat is unlined. Retailer's label sewn inside crown: "Made in France for / Neiman-Marcus". While in the style of a 1920's/1930's cloche, the materials, label, and construction date this piece to the 1960's.
Pillbox Hat
Pillbox hat of draped chiffon burnout velvet. Cylindrical large pillbox hat with shaped lower rim. The crown is draped/pleated horizontally in a chiffon burnout velvet with printed abstract designs burnt orange, yellow, and blue. Lined in a brocaded blue and sparkly fabric. At lower inside edge is band of gold rickrack. Designer's label inside rim at back: "Sue Dooley / Dallas"

The hat has a dark brown leather band at lower edge, almost a tiny visor in front, which extends inside the sides of crown and emerges in back to form a bow. The skirt gathers slightly into the waist, which dips slightly to hips. Two slit pockets at side skirt seams just below waist. Center back opening, with 5 large circular wine red plastic buttons, a hook-and-eye at waist, two hidden snaps at neckline, and two hidden snaps below waist. Fully lined in red silk. Designer's label: "Norman Norell / New York" B) Under-bodice of wine red silk and wine red linen. Cropped bodice of silk with low, rounded neckline, and center front opening with 5 hook-and-eyes. Toque of magenta pink velour. Designed as an over-sized pillbox, the hat has a cylindrical crown, flattened at top, embellished at top with magenta beading in a stylized flower-head design, and with scalloped band of beading around the sides of the crown. Below the crown is a thin "inner band" of same velour, slightly inset from crown. The hat is lined in red fabric, and has an inner black grosgrain ribbon hatband laid over an off-white grosgrain band. Retailer's label inside: "Neiman-Marcus".

Ceremonial huipil
Ceremonial/Cofradia (religious society) Huipil. 2 breadth garment back strap loomed in cotton with cotton and silk single-faced brocaded designs - broad and widely spaced red warp stripes amid very wide areas of ixcaco (natural brown cotton) - no trim at neck or sleeves.
Caftan
Caftan created from a Bedouin Thobe. The embroidered panels having been removed from the traditional thobe and incorporated into the caftan. Neiman-Marcus label.
Huipil panel
Unused (neck opening never cut) huipil (woman's blouse). White cotton warp and weft handwoven on the back strap loom - technique called picb'il (supplementary weft brocade on a spaced or gauze weave textile - no supplemental weft). This style huipil is always wider than longer so the side panels will hang lower than the center panel. This huipil is never tucked into the skirt, thus giving the wearer freedom to move around and feel cool in the subtropical climate of 3500'.
Morga skirt
Ceremonial Morga (Skirt) of purple and blue striped and patterned handwoven cotton and rayon. Created on a treadle loom with warp jaspe (ikat) patterning.
