The Calculation of Rotational Energy Levels and Rotational Line Intensities in Diatomic Molecules

Description: Report describing procedures for making quantum mechanical calculations of rotational energy levels and rotational line intensities in diatomic molecules. The procedures are illustrated by sample calculations. A familiarity with the material of this report should enable a practicing electronic spectroscropist to carry out, though in a rather mechanical way, his own theoretical calculations for molecules under experimental investigation.

Foundation Investigations, NASA Mississippi Test Facility, Report 4: Dynamic Behavior of Piling During Initial Test Firings on the S-IC and S-II Test Complexes

Description: Report on test firings conducted by a U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) test facility. "The Mississippi Test Facility, located approximately 40 miles northeast of New Orleans, La., is the site of the test stands built to test the first and second stages of the Saturn V space vehicle. At the request of the U. S. Army Engineer District, Mobile, plans were developed for instrumenting the test stands to obtain data on foundation base pressures, lateral wall pressures, and pile loads during and after the actual test firings of the Saturn V engines" (p. xi).

Puerto Rico Energy Center Study: Executive Study

Description: From background: The study is an outgrowth of investigations by the Atomic Energy Commission and the Office of Saline Water into the use of nuclear energy to supply heat for desalting seawater and for generating electricity, and of work on the energy center concept conducted at the AEC's Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The bases for the study were set forth in a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Commissioner James T. Ramey of the United States Atomic Energy Commission, Under Secretary David S. Black of the United States Department of the Interior, Acting Executive Director Fernando Torrent of the Puerto Rico Water Resources Authority, and Executive Director Orlando Gonzalez of the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority.

Puerto Rico Energy Center Study: Executive Summary

Description: From introduction: The scope of work of the study was to compile and analyze information on the resources and requirements of the southwestern, southeastern, and north-central coastal regions of the Commonwealth, and assess industrial and agricultural activities which in conjunction with the power and desalting plants, might comprise the energy center complex. The study was also to identify the need for any experimental, pilot or demonstration projects which benefit the practical application of the Energy Center concept in Puerto Rico.
