An error Analysis of R-C Timers

Description: The results of this paper show that a variation is sensing voltage produces an error in timing which increases logarithmically with time interval. Also, variation in supply voltage produces the same type of errors, but the errors are decreased by the ratio of the sensing to supply voltage. An interesting conclusion from this analysis is that if the ratio of supply to sensing voltages is maintained constant, no change in timing will result.

A Transistorized Binary Counter for Extreme Environments

Description: A transistorized binary counter circuit is described that operates over a temperature range of -65 degree F to +165 degree F. the supply voltage is 28 + 4 volts and the maximum trigger repetition rate is 5 kilocycles. the binary circuit is pre-settable and resettable by means of a switching arrangement that can be mechanized. Texas Instrument type 904 silicon transistors whose large signal current gain is 2.8 or greater at a -65 degree F can be used in this circuit.

Analysis of Uranium Fuel-Element Wafers from Atomics International for Uranium, Plutonium and Samarium

Description: Five irradiated and five unirradiated wafers were analyzed. Each wafer was analyzed for samarium by emission spectrography. The unirradiated wafers were analyzed for uranium by coulometric and potentiometric methods and for uranium isotopes by mass spectrometry. Description: Measurements of the interfacial tension between water and tributyl phosphate solutions were made for application to the analysis of Marengoni effect in solvent extraction. Multiplication Measurements with Highly Enriched Uranium Metal Slabs

Description: A series of neutron multiplication measurements with arrays of 1 by 8 by 10 in. slabs of 93.4% U235-enirched uranium metal have been made to provide data from which safety criteria for the storage of these fissile units can be established. Each slab contained 22.9 kg of U235. A maximum of 125 unites was assembled. The arrays studied were cubic lattices of the units and were usually parallelepipedal in shape.

Prediction of Two-Phase Flow From Mixing Length Theory

Description: It is proposed in this report to describe a new two-phase flow mixing length model. It consists of treating the two-phase system as a continuous medium and applying to it the methods and assumptions so widely accepted in single-phase turbulent flow. Because it reduces a two-phase problem to an equivalent one in single-phase flow, the proposed model can be readily used to predict the effects of flow rate, channel geometry, and channel direction in two-phase flow.

Products Produced in Batch Neutron Irradiation of Thorium

Description: Calculated data and graphs describing the effects of batch thermal-neutron irradiation of thorium, the usual method of operation of heterogeneous reactors, are presented. The buildup and decay of U233, Pa233, other heavy isotopes, and fission products are considered on the basis of best available cross-section and fission-yield data. The effects of these irradiation products on the Thorex chemical separation process are indicated briefly.

Transistorized Linear Pulse Amplifiers

Description: The basic investigation of transistor feedback amplifiers has proven mathematically simple and of great practical value. The behavior of single-stage common-emitter amplifiers is described and provides a building block with which cascaded feedback amplifiers can be analyzed and designed. Measuring Rotary Table Angle Error

Description: The angle errors of a rotary table can be accurately measured by stepping off the angles with an optical caliper and computing table error from (1) the error readings at each angle measured and (2) the cumulative caliper error that will be evident when the circle is closed at 360', eliminating the necessity of adjusting the caliper to the exact setting.

The Equation Of State Of PBX 9404 And LX04-01

Description: The Chapman-Jouguet pressure and equation of state of the high explosives PBX 9404 and LX04-01 have been experimentally derived. To assure a strictly one-dimensional geometry, spheres of high explosives were used. Experimental measurements of the radius-time history of material accelerated by the explosive gases were used in conjunction with finite difference calculations of the hydrodynamic equations to obtain some previous inaccessible data on high explosives.
