Rawang Language Resource
About the Language
Rawang and Dulong are two names given to a Tibeto-Burman language spoken across the China-Burma border. Though recognized as two separate languages because of the national border, material from both Rawang (ISO 639-3 raw) and Dulong (ISO 639-3 duu) are included in this collection.
About the Collection
This collection includes audio recordings and transcriptions of conversations, traditional narratives, elicitation, and descriptions of the customs of the Rawang and Dulong people. Procedural narratives describe traditional ways of life like fishing, wine making, and marriage customs, and give the many names of the mountains and rivers in the area. The material was collected by Dr. Randy La Polla and Ráwang Mèrv̄m in the early 2000s while traveling in the Kachin state of Burma and Yunnan Province, China.
