Description: This report shows that while lawmakers work towards final passage of new authorizing legislation, Congress has appropriated more than $3 billion to the Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) to increase bioterrorism preparedness at the federal, state, and local levels. Description: This report focuses on trends in personal health care spending, which includes spending on health care goods and services provided to individuals and excludes expenditures for administrative costs, research, and public health activities. Coverage of the TANF Population Under Medicaid and SCHIP

Description: Health insurance is an important support for individuals receiving, leaving or diverted from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) welfare or cash assistance program for low-income families. Health Insurance: Uninsured by State, 2005

Description: An estimated 15.9% of the U.S. populations lacked health insurance coverage in 2005. When examined by state, estimates of the percent uninsured ranged from a low of 8.4% in Minnesota to a high of 24.2% in Texas. Generally, states in the Midwest and New England have lower rates of uninsured, while states in the Southwestern and Southern portion of the nation have higher shares of their populations without coverage.

Description: China is a major source of U.S. imports of consumer products (such as toys) and an increasingly important supplier of various food products.
