The Department of Chemistry trains profes-
sional chemists and biochemists, prepares
chemistry teachers, and gives background for
work in biology home economics, medicine,
nursing, medical technology, dentistry, engi-
neering, environmental studies, pollution ana-
lysis and control, patent law, and related fields.
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Bachelor
of Science in Biochemistry, and Bachelor of
Arts degree programs are offered. Recipients of
the B.S. in Chemistry, and in some cases the
B.A. are certified by the American Chemical
Society as meeting requirements for profes-
sional training of chemists.
