Lion-Eagle games was lacking as neither team had any share in
the Lone Star Conference championship. This 22nd annual ET-
NT clash marked the first time in LSC history that neither team
had won the loop crown.
The East Texans drew first blood in the melee, and the Eag-
les were forced to come from behind to win the game. With less
than three minutes of the game gone, the Lions scored on a
quick 53-yard pass play. North Texas came back midway through
the second quarter to punch over a tally after Guard Herb Ferrill
recovered a Lion bobble on ET's 23. Dick Nutt smashed through
left tackle from the 6-yard line for the touchdown. Nutt's conver-
sion try was good, tying up the game, 7-7.
Another Eagle score came in the fast-moving second stanza
when Cecil (Zeke) Martin shot a 25-yard pass into the waiting
arms of Luther (Bugs) Fambro in the end zone. Nutt again con-
verted to put the Eagles ahead, 14-7, as the first half ended.
Shortly after the third period opened, the Eagles tallied again
to make the score 20-7. Only two plays were required to reach
ET's goal when the North Texans took over the ball on their

later Nutt took it over from the 1-foot line and kicked the
