The strike of several hundred ironworkers early this
week now has effectively shut down nearly every con-
struction project in Fort Worth -- including this
major expansion of the FORT WORTE STAR TELEGRAM build-
ing. The di ironworkers strike began Monday but work
on most projects went on because there were no picket
lines. Pickets went up Wednesday, however, and today
the Associated General Contractors of Fort Worth threw
in the towel and closed down every construction effort
in Tarrant County except for five which are directly
strike of Iron
related to the war effort. The
Local-263 is said to be over wages.
