GOOD GOVERNMENT LEAGUE -. Aug 28
Fort Worth's Good Government League made its
political debut in the April municipal election,
backing seven winners for the city council. Now,
the league appears ready to move into races for
county offices and for the Fort Worth School
Board. Charles Wagner, the new president of the
G-G-L, told a luncheon meeting of the league today
that the idea of getting involved in next year's
school board race should not be interpreted as
criticism of the present board. And he said the
plunge into county government will have to be
taken "slow and easy." Wagner says the G-G-L
was formed to encourage qualified persons to run
for public office. The league encountered
charges of "power politics" in the city election
and Wagner says the league must not give the
public the idea that the league is becoming aclique.
