The corn earworm Occurs thlrouglh-
outt the Unitedl States, where in the /
North it injures mainly green corn j
in field and garden, and in the South
corn (figs. 1 and 3) andl cotton, espe-
cially in the western portions of the
cotton belt. Tomatoes and various
other truck crops at times suffer i
severe injury. Recently the corn 4
earworm has become a serious pest
of alfalfa andl especially of 'etch
in the South Atlantic States.
The annual damagee caused by thle "
corn earworm to cultivated crops,
exclusive of alfalfa, has been esti- ' - - t
mated at $27,000,000. The damage is + ' I
