Dearest,
I wrote to you this morning. I sent Anna's1 poor sick brother five
dollars, as he had long lain sick, and wrote to me for aid. On your
account I sent him the small sum. I wrote to him, how much you, and
Sam thought of Anna, and to let me know where she was.
You see love, that I retain every word of them.
My love dearest, I confide to you. Mr McDuffy2 is speaking on
the Oregon Question.

Ever Dearest,
This morning, before I go to church, I will devote a while to
writing. I view my writing to you, a part [sic] from business, and in
the line of duty. My heart is always with you, and Sam, when I have
a moments leisure from the press of business, and I feel an irresistible
inclination to be saying something, to you, or about you. You
