Johnny Mathis is a 29-year-old singer who has sold
more than 40-million records -- and he's done it,
for the most part, without resorting to a strict
stock of rock and roll songs. In short, he sings
'em sweet. Mathis today stops over in Dallas where
he finds a fan in an off-duty airline stewardess,
Pat Shomler. Mathis is en route to Austin where
m t he performed tonight. mJ omorrow, he'll
come back to Dallas for an engagement at the Pit
Club in Oak Cliff. Mathis' home town is San
Francisco where he was a star high school athlete
before making his living with his voice. Mathis is
asked if he's a millionaire and he replies that he
doesn't know, he's never thought about it. One thing
for sure, he isn't poor. He says he just works, has
a good time and lets the money roll in.
