BASKETBALL 1-*i-1
Cincinnati's untamed Bearcats, the nation's number
one basketball team in the college ranks, put
their unbeaten string of twenty-nine games on the
line against North Texas State at Denton. Fans
are expecting a scoring duel between Cincinnati's
Ron Bonham, who boasts a 19-plus scoring average
and North Texas State's John Savage, an All Missouri
S Valley conference A selection last season.
TIP OFF
The Bearcats, making their second conference start,
have won
the NCAA crown two years in a row. The Eagles, in
white, make it tough on the champs in the opening half.
ACTION AFTER CROWD
Savage, number 14, keeps the Eagles in the game by
tossing in 22 points. His loss, by the foul route
with nine and one-half minutes left, cost the Eagles
dearly.= The 6-5 junior forward hits on ten of
seventeen shots from the floor. This one gives theEagles an 11 to 7 lead.
