address by Dr. James L.0 Dennis, -director of the
Defects Center at the University of Arkansas Medical
The Mother's March this season is aimed at
treating, and helping prevent birth defects, and the
chairmen present are told a surprising number of such
defects CAN be prevented, if detected early.
Dennis urges expansion of such facilities as Fort
Worth's Child Study Clinic. He shows slides of child-
ren whose afflictions might have been checked. Many
defects are hereditary, says the doctor, but perhaps
an even greater number can be called chemical defects.
