measuring 1 3/8 inch in diameter, with
capitals on one side, small letters on
the other; in an ivory box, the lid engraved
"A B C"; late eighteenth century"."Ivory alphabet. Thirteen ivory disks,
measuring 7/8 inch in diameter, with a
letter on each side; in a grooved ivory
box with lid; late eighteenth century".

in lead. The three pictured in the Doheny
box are catalogued as follows:
