Please accept my sincere thanks for your sending me two
of your miniature books. The book entitled "Robert
Hutchings Goddard-Father of the Space Age" was flown to
the moon on board Apollo 11. Unfortunately we were not
permitted to leave items such as this on the lunar surface.
It is my intention, with your permission, to retain
possession of this book for future presentation either
to Mrs. Goddard directly or to the Goddard Library at
Clark University. I trust that this action would meet
with your approval.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and your best wishes
for success on our mission.
Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr.
