$6,190,518; coal 2,310,000 tons; copper 559,235,00 pounds, value $95,741,000; lead 14,000,000 pounds,
value $1,147,000; zinc 1,457,000 pounds, value $118,000. Some quicksilver is found, also iron ore.
COMMERCE AND TRANSPORTATION. There are now over 2,000 miles of railroads. An extensive
system of good roads is provided for under a special tax and will be of material assistance
in opening up the country to settlement. Manufactures are small, but increasing
with the needs of a growing population. There are over 300 manufacturing establishments,
with products valued at over $50,000,000.
The number of newspapers and periodicals published in Arizona is 79, including 20daily,
1 three times a week, 5 semi-weekly, 47 weekly, 1 fortnightly, 2 semi-monthly, and 3 monthly.
