Paul Hennefeld, my call, 3:20 p.m., 7/8/96.
I call it the stamp room.
That's hard to figure out. I'm now at 160 pages, but I've broken down
the collection through, beginning with greek mythology and working
it way up through the Ren. to the present time. And I do a page on
each person who was gay or bisexual. For instance, page on Thomas
Mann, 1-2 on Martina, page on Greg Louganis. I've got a page or two
on Alexander Hamilton, only person on a stamp with his lover.
Souv3nir sheet, 5 stamps, Surrender of Cornwallis, 5th Stamp,AH on
Col. John Laurent.
I have stamps from throughout the world.
The one I just mentioned is the tops. There's a set in France that has
Verlaine and Rimbaud. They both appear on stamps of the same set in
France, which is pretty good.
I love the martina stamps. She's on quite a few. She's always been
out and supportive.
Page on Louganis is fantastic. At one time a Palu protectorate, they
issued a set of mini-sheets with the different olympic winners on
them, Greg is one. It's about 3" by 5" and it's really a beautiful
I first exhibited my stamp collection in 1983 in NYC. At that time
there was only 32 pages because there are 16 pages on a frame at a
stamp show. This was at the NYC Coliseum, I won a bronze award
from the collection.
Since that time, this room upstairs is full of awards. Last time
showed collection was in Dela, first time I ever received the Best
Collection of Show, I won that award, the people's award, so that
was quite nice.
I was thrilled, Barbara Giddings went to see my collection there.
That was quite a thrilling experience. Mabel Hampton, she came to
see my collection in Manhattan. Both are in Before Stonewall.
Here’s what’s next.
