One Fleet at a Time
FEMP helps Federal agencies comply with the Federal Fleet
Requirements of the Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 1992, as
amended by EPAct 2005, and Executive Order (E.O.) 13423.
Fleet regulatory requirements include:
- Agencies with fleets of 20 or more light-duty vehicles
in major U.S. metropolitan areas must acquire a certain
percentage of alternative fuel vehicles each year.
- Agencies must also use alternative fuels in all dual-fuel
vehicles the majority of the time.
- Agencies must decrease petroleum consumption by 2%
per year (relative to their fiscal year (FY) 2005 baseline)
through FY 2015.
" All agencies must also increase alternative fuel use by 10%
compounded annually based on their FY 2005 baseline use.
