Abstract: This presentation discusses a research study on language barriers and their effect on healthcare among Vietnamese immigrants in Tarrant County. The purpose of the study is to examine the disparity in access to healthcare between Vietnamese patients who speak English and those who do not, and to examine and compare predictors of use of healthcare services among Vietnamese patients who speak English and those who do not. Access to healthcare is defined in this study as the use of preventive and primary care. The findings from this study may have implications for larger subgroups of the Asian population.
