Poster presentation for the 2012 University Scholars Day at the University of North Texas discussing research on the effect of modern medical technology on the cost of health insurance coverage.
Abstract: Many new medical technologies are produced across the world in attempts to improve the well being of the human race. Some of these new technologies, however, are very expensive and cannot be used efficiently or be used worldwide. In my research I sought to find if the rising cost of health insurance coverage has any relation to the types of medical technologies that are covered. To perform my research, I plan to choose different medical technologies and to follow the changes in insurance coverage due to the price of those technologies. I do not expect to discover that the price of medical technology is the sole contributor to the high cost of health insurance. I do, however, expect to find a positive correlation between the two.
