ROYSE FIRE
Royse City, 25 miles of Dallas, is
hit by a 300 thousand dollar fire in the early hours
of the morning. Four business buildingiand a hotel
are destroyed.FLAMES
FLAMES AGAIN....
Otis Smith, night watchman, turns in the first
alarm shortly before 1 a.m. and the Royse City
Volunteer Fire Department tries to fightth
More help is needed and additional aid is received
from Rockwall, hate and Caddo Mills. Fire Chief
C. R. Gentry says if he had a few more men available
in the earlier hoursthe fire could have been stopped
before it got out of control. while the fire blazes
barrels of cleaning fluid, shotgun shells and
paint cans are exploding creating more of a hazard
to the fire fighters. In these early hours about
500 of the towns two thousand residents are watching
the firemen fighting their battle.
