Coach John Bridgers brings his troublesome Baylor
Bears into Memorial Stadium in Austin fired up and
well-prepared for the undefeated Texas Longhorns who
have written a perfect record in seven games under
boyish looking headmaster, Darrell Royal.
STEER
Bevo's buddies are seventeen point favorites, but,
once the battle is on, it's anybody's ball game.
Sophomore quarterback Ronnie Stanley shocks the
Longhorns on the first play from scrimmage with a
screen pass to Sonny Davis. Behind plenty of blocking,
Davis hustles for 36 yards before Clair Branch
pulls him down at midfield. And, that's only the
beginning of the roughest afternoon the Steers have
had since they squeaked past Arkansas.
