Company-D, shown in action today, was commanded in
1951 by Fort Worth's Amon Carter-junior.
Part of being battle-ready includes the chow line.
Camouflaged in the trees, a cook who's familiar with
his mobile kitchen fries a meal that's bound to be
just what the tankers ordered when the whistle blows
for dinner.
The Fort Worth men who[make up the battalion meet
reguarly once a week -- three times each month in
the national guard armory in Fort Worth, and once a
month in the field. And, once year, all the
division's 350 tankdFortHood forfull-scale maneuvers involving actual firing.
The
medium tanks are amred with two machine guns -- one
50-calibre and one 30-calibre -- and a 90-millimeter
gun. Commanded by Colonel Carl Wallace of Fort
Worth, the second medium tank battalion is ready to
go.m
