Description

We performed optical electric field measurements ion nanosecond time scales using the electro<U+2010>optic crystal beta barium borate (BBO). Tests were based on a preliminary bench top design intended to be a proof<U+2010>of<U+2010>principle stepping stone towards a modular<U+2010>design optical E<U+2010>field diagnostic that has no metal in the interrogated environment. The long term goal is to field a modular version of the diagnostic in experiments on large scale x<U+2010>ray source facilities, or similarly harsh environments.
