Notes

Julian Bond was a founding member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and worked to establish African American Civil Rights in Georgia and across the nation. He was voted to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1965 but was rejected when the state congressional body refused him access. The case was taken to the Supreme Court, where they unanimously voted in favor of Bond and he was allowed to take his seat. He continued his activism in the decades that followed. He died in August 15, 2015 at the age of 75. Bond was also interviewed by North Texas State University students for the North Texas Daily newspaper.
