Notes

Artist's Statement:

"The Tree of Life is a universal motif, found in every ancient culture -- a symbol of the uniting of heaven and earth, spiritual nourishment and enlightenment. This tree has the signs of the zodiac handing like ripe fruit. The zodiac is a universal language that speaks of our connection to each other and the cosmos"

The fairy goddess who is playing the flute is a giver of poetic gifts and spiritual wisdom. It is while meditating under this tree that she received her enlightenment that she could make her life a work of art, and her art a work of life. The circle and triangle shapes in the heavens depict the moon's mysterious power and Torie's own Tree of Life design, representing intuition, magic, and growth.

Because of their association with the Tree of Life, peacock symbols were popular in ancient Babylon. This bird is a symbol of beauty, prosperity, royalty, love, compassion, and the soul and peace. The colors of purple and violet represent purpose, imagination and inspiration.

Zerner wrote to Gibralter in a letter that this jacket is meant to allow Gibralter “to trust the Universe” and that it “represents the beauty inside” of her.
