HOTEL FIRE
LONF OF FIRE ATOP BUILDING -
'arlier 6 x 4Ww# s"w.a spectacular fire highatop Hotel Texas
in downtown Fort Worth brings
thousands to the scene to view the blaze. In spite
of the appearance of the fire...it was confined to
an unused water cooler tower on the roof of the
hotel. Every available policeman on duty was
called to the downtown area to control the
0crowds and flow of traffic,.
Probably the
people least bothered by the fire were the guests
and others in the hotel at the time.
Most
guests stayed in their rooms in the fireproof
structure. A meeting was ax in progress
on the top floor of the hotel and the speaker
continued his address without interruption.
Firemen said they believe the blaze was started
by defective wiring. In addition to hooking
on to regular hotel fire lines...a hose wasstrdtng to the roof from street level.
