title: Pentaquark phenomenology creator: Lipkin, Harry J. contributor: United States. Department of Energy. Office of Energy Research. publisher: Argonne National Laboratory date: 1997-09-01 language: English description: Heavy flavor hadron scattering and bound states give experimental information otherwise unobtainable on effective (qq){sub 6} and ({anti q}q){sub 8} interactions. All constituent quark model successes in (uds) hadron spectroscopy depend only on (qq){sub 3*} and ({anti q}q){sub 1} interactions. Reliable vertex detectors open new pentaquark search directions. Any event in with a proton emitted from a secondary vertex indicates a particle decaying weakly by proton emission and the discovery of a new particle if its mass is higher than that of known charmed baryons. There is no combinatorial background and striking decay signatures like p{phi}{pi}{sup {minus}} are no longer needed. subject: Weak Particle Decay subject: Quark Model subject: Quantum Chromodynamics subject: Particle Identification subject: Quarks subject: Mesons subject: Lattice Field Theory subject: Hadrons subject: 66 Physics subject: Baryons subject: Bound State source: 6. conference on the intersections of particle and nuclear physics, Big Sky, MT (United States), 25 May - 2 Jun 1997 type: Article format: 7 p. format: Text identifier: other: DE97054048 identifier: rep-no: ANL-HEP-CP--97-60 identifier: rep-no: CONF-970564-- identifier: grantno: W-31109-ENG-38 identifier: osti: 554894 identifier: https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc697257/ identifier: ark: ark:/67531/metadc697257
