Description

The synthesis of many chemical compounds produces potentially dangerous exothermic reactions. The FORTRAN IV program described herein employs analytical techniques for the calculation of the batch temperature in a chemical reactor as a function of time. The program includes provisions for calculating (a) total batch and mass volume, (b) coolant and batch average thermodynamic properties, (c) heat transfer coefficients for the batch, wall, coolant, and the overall {open_quotes}U{close_quotes} value, and (d) reaction rates for zero through 3rd order reactions.
