Notes

Abstract: Rate coefficients for the O + C2H6 reaction have been measured using the high-temperature photochemistry (HTP) technique. Strong non-Arrhenius behavior is observed. The data are well fitted by the empirical expression k(T)=1.9 x 10(-31) T(6.5) exp(-138 K/T) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1). Confidence limits are discussed in the text. The results are consistent with calculations based on transition state theory and tunneling through an Eckart barrier.
