e iust received your wonderful letter - it was SC good to hear
oul (exclamation point!) I know that it is going to be rough,
but, as many told you, remember that each minute, each hour, each day,
each week, is or eE5C that you have to go through with.
:hen you feel ycur lowest (and there will be many times) we want
you to remember, and remember well, how much we love you, are missing
you, are pulling for you, and KNOW that you can take anything that
some of those--------can dish out - they are checking to see how many
guys break under pressure - it is positively not personal although thuy
try very hard tc ake it sound that way with insults, etc.
You have snt your life with people trying to U 3Filz their
minds, ambitions, etc.; therefore the world in which you find yourself
at this moment is quite a shock to you. Those who relish pouring
filth out of their mouths do so in most cases because they have such
poor vocabularies that they do not know anything else. You won't have
to live your LIr under those conditions - you remember that, please!
'e had a fine visit with the Bob Houston's in Dallas the other
night and they showed us the pictures of Bob's graduation exercises.
It was really quite impressive to say the least! They pointed out that
the band there is so teroorary that it really does not mean a whole
lot to be in it; so don't worry if you don't end up playing a note
with that band - you'll be playing with THE band soon.
David. We do love you so very much. We know, better than anyone
else on earth, what the past few months have brought to you. No one will
ever know how such pain you have suffered because of events known to you
all too well. But - if we can all face up to them and realize that we
11 hurt all around us by dwelling on it (and I've had to learn this
very, very hard and - know that I have hurt you and your mother by
:t being able to throw things off so easily) we will be doing each other
:rPat favor.
Though of that for now - I just want yoau to know how much everyone
re is thinking of you and pulling for you - all the way. The Houstons
.t a number of the .Washington Navy Bandsmen and spoke so very highly
them - they said that practically everyone of them had mentioned how
ey were that "boot" was over; so - you are not alone for surCA
not hesitate to use your better judgement on all things. You
and only you) when you must stop ancJ possibly ask for help - I'm
Eceaking here only of overdoing the physical part of it TOO SOON! You
est adiit that you have led a fairly soft life physically but a hard
.e mentally. Lach is just as hard on you as the other but right now
re physical is taking you fcr a loop probably more than e scme y who
been working outside or something like that.
T'm going to close for now because I'm due in Dallas right away.
