title: Rotations of the low-{beta} quadrupoles: Coupling in the Tevatron and the effect on the luminosity creator: Gelfand, N.M. contributor: United States. Department of Energy. publisher: Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory date: 1996-04-01 language: English description: It is now generally recognized that a large roll, {approx} 6--7 mr, in a triplet low-{beta} quadrupole, which couples the horizontal and vertical motion of the beam, can significantly reduce the luminosity and impact the operation of the Tevatron. The question then arises, what is the effect of the small rolls of the low-{beta} quadrupoles on the luminosity. They will consider random rolls with a {sigma} = 1,2 and 4mr which can be expected due to errors in the surveys, or changes in alignment after the survey. In the actual operation of the Tevatron they attempt to correct for the coupling and so this study will consider correction schemes and will compare the luminosity, after correction, with a configuration with no rolls. subject: Positioning subject: Fermilab Tevatron subject: 43 Particle Accelerators subject: Quadrupoles subject: Beam Luminosity subject: Equations Of Motion subject: Beam Focusing Magnets subject: Beam Optics subject: Beam Emittance subject: Rotation source: Other Information: PBD: Apr 1996 type: Report format: 11 p. format: Text identifier: other: DE96009370 identifier: rep-no: FNAL-TM--1967 identifier: grantno: AC02-76CH03000 identifier: doi: 10.2172/226067 identifier: osti: 226067 identifier: https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc673291/ identifier: ark: ark:/67531/metadc673291
