SUBJECT: MANAGEMENT OF POLYCHLORINATED BIPHENYLS (PCBs) - QUESTIONS AND
To provide the subject environmental guidance to Department of Energy
(DOE) Program Offices and Field Organizations.
The attached document provides questions and answers to a broad
array of PCB management issues facing the Department. The questions
were asked by DOE field and headquarters personnel at one of several
PCB Management Focus Group meetings. The answers were given by Dr.
John Smith of the Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Pollution
Prevention and Toxics. This document presents a summary of Dr. Smith's
presentation at the meeting and the subsequent question and answer session.
This guidance document, Management of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBS)
- Questions and Answers:
o Is directed to DOE and contractor personnel responsible for
managing PCBs under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA),
both in the waste management and environmental restoration areas.
