Description

A technique was developed to extract iodine from groundwaters with very low concentrations of iodine (on the order of {mu}g/L or ppb). Sufficient iodine was necessary (approximately 5 mg Agl) for analysis of the {sup 129}l/{sup 127}l on the Tandem Accelerator Mass Spectrometer (AMS). The technique for separating iodine from groundwater was developed for the field to eliminate shipping of thousands of liters of water back to the laboratory.
