ed and passed, that an interim committee be appointed
to consider ways of establishing this service for members
of the Division. Mr. Weil was appointed chairman of
this interim committee.
Since over 90% of those answering the questionnaire
felt that the Division should concern itself with the
nomenclature of documentation, this project was referred
to the new Committee on Aids to Chemical Documentation.
The names of those who volunteered to work
on this project were to be turned over to this committee.
The Executive Committee authorized T. E. R. Singer
to extend an invitation to three Russian authors to pre
sent papers before the Division, since Mr. Singer report-e
ed that the ACS would be willing to intercede with the i
State Department in the procurement of visas.
Madeline Berry, who is now associated with the!'
National Science Foundation, expressed the interest of I
the Foundation i n assisting the Division in projects
which might be within the scope of the Foundation's
Office of Scientific Information. This offer was referred

B. H. Weil proposed the formation of an interim com- i
mittee to prepare a manual describing the duties of the
officers and committees of the Division. He stated that
such a manual would aid in giving continuity to the 1
carrying out of Division business. The Executive Committee
approved this proposal, and Dr. Mellon was in- ;
structed to appoint a committee for this task. (At the f
Business Meeting, Robert S. Casey suggested that the
chairman of this committee should check with ACS Head- t
quarters, since they are believed to be preparing a ?
manual for the use of ACS divisions and sections.)
The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
