Excerpts from Minutes of the
DIVISION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
Miami, Florida, April 9, 1967
Dr. Helen Ginsberg, Chairman, presided
over the Executive Committee Meeting which
was attended by Henry Koehler, Howard Bonnett,
Joe Clark, Barbara Montague, Barbara
Davis, Lee Starker, Henry Kissman, Herman
Skolnik, and C. C. Conrad. Miss Montague,
Treasurer, reported that the total membership
of the Division is 943, including 53
Dr. Clark's report of the Program Committee
is summarized elsewhere in this issue.
He stated that the Chicago symposium
on "Methods of Conducting National Meetings"
is an introductory one on the topic
to be followed by a larger one, probably
at Atlantic City.
The Committee voted in favor of having
the Division co-sponsor a symposium
at CHEMICAL ABSTRACTS in Columbus with
Division and SLA members.
The Canadian Institute of Chemistry
has invited the Division to conduct its
own program in Toronto in Spring 1970.
Since the Committee on Titles of Papers
and Photocopy Service reported that
papers are not being made available for
photocopying, it was decided to discontinue
the service. Only papers already on
deposit and listed in "Titles of Papers"
will be copied by the Service.
Dr. Kissman, reporting for the Committee
on Chemical Documentation, recommended
that it be combined with the Program Committee.
It was decided that this will be
given further consideration.
Mr. Koehler reported that the Procedures
Manual Committee now has ammendments
for the sections for the Chairman and the
Chairman-Elect. He requested that other
Division officers send suggestions on revisions
of their procedures. Copies of
the revisions will be sent to all Executive
Dr. Conrad reported that DOCUMENTATION
ABSTRACTS has a new editor, Dr. Ben-Ami
Lipitz of Yale. Although full scale cooperation
with ASLIB is not yet possible,
Dr. Lipitz has been encouraging the exchange
of abstracts with them. The Division
has only one representative on the DA
Board of Directors, and another must be
appointed soon. The Certificate of Incorporation
and the By-Laws have been revised
and will be sent to SLA, ADI, and the Division
