MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
At the Houston meeting your Executive Committee voted to formally
establish a subdivision "Chemistry and the Law": this group
chaired by Dr. Howard M. Peters, has been very active within our
Division and their influence has been seen in our recent programming.
At the upcoming San Francisco meeting they will have a two
day program of symposia.
By now everyone should have received their ballots. Please be
sure to vote. Your vote is one mechanism to influence the Division
by selecting your Officers.
There are two upcoming regional meetings which will be of interest
to the Divisional members. The MARM (Middle Atlantic
Regional Meeting) will be in Washington D.C. January 7-9, 1981. Dr.
P. Craig (National Library of Medicine (301)-496-1131) is putting
together the information session. The Central and Great Lakes
region will hold their meeting May 20-22, 1981 in Dayton, Ohio. Dr.
G. Vanderstow (CAS (614)-421-2914) is chairing a session on the
emerging computer chemistry. Another symposium will be on data
acquisition and handling in chemical laboratory chaired by Dr. T.H.
Ridgway of the University of Cincinnati (513)-475-2900. On Friday
night is the Patterson-Crane Award banquet.
We have planned an exciting program for the San Francisco
meeting. There will be concurrent sessions and joint symposia.
Pete Rusch has planned an outstanding opportunity for Divisional
members-wine tasting and dinner! This event will be open to all
ACS members so be sure to order your ticket early. Jean Marcali
will accept orders from Divisional members (see notice in this issue
of the Bulletin).
The Tri-Society meeting with ASIS and SLA which was scheduled
for March 1981 in Washington, D.C. has been cancelled. The CINF
Division will be meeting, instead, at the National ACS meeting to be
held in Atlanta, March 1981. The program will be announced in later
editions of the Bulletin.
Looking forward to seeing you in San Francisco.
Cynthia H. O'Donohue
