Greetings! I am writing this letter from Avondale, a coastal community in southern Rhode Island... hopefully
our family will be moved back into our newly renovated home before the ACS meeting! It has been busy at
home, at work and with CINF. I find it somewhat amusing to juggle flooring samples, tile patterns, and CINF
event planning each day!
I have much to share with you about CINF. In March we enjoyed a successful meeting in Anaheim, and I was
fortunate to meet many of you for the first time. I am amazed at how quickly new faces get involved in our
committees and planning groups! Philadelphia will be no exception - the meeting planned in packed with
exciting topics, lectures and the Skolnik Symposia. The abstracts I have read are all of excellent quality. I know
you will each find sessions of interest in this edition of CIB. This edition also includes the schedule of
committee meetings for Saturday, and the list of social events. Please visit our website for more information
about our Philadelphia CINF activities.
There are interesting developments concerning our Division taking form in the coming weeks - we have
submitted a proposal to ACS to adopt the LABA Division, and it has been accepted. I hope to have more
information for you soon. Please check our CINF website for up-to-date information on this matter and read
about the plans we have to incorporate our new membership.
Again, I want to personally thank all of the dedicated volunteers that work so hard to put the Division plans
together. I am grateful for all your hard work. Thank you!
Calendar events coming up:
** The Long Range Planning committee will meet Saturday morning, August 21st, during the breakfast for
Functionaries. We will take time to update our Mission statement and revisit our goals & objectives. The
committee meetings will start at 9:30 to give us ample time to work on this.
As always, new people interested in participating in committee meetings are welcome - just come for the
breakfast Saturday morning & let me know where your interests are. I will be posting specific openings for
various committees in the coming weeks on the CINF Listserv. Stay tuned for more information. See you in
Philadelphia! Best regards, Pamela J. Scott, Division President pamela i email@example.com
